Structural Engineering designs for football stadium terraces
BSF Consulting Engineers were commissioned to provide both structural and civil (drainage) designs for the redevelopment of Priestfield Stadium, which consisted of three new stands and facilities for home supporters and a temporary stand for the away supporters. The new stand was renamed the Medway Stand.
The redevelopment commenced with phase one, which was the removal and replacement of the Gordon Road terracing and away supporters terrace. The new Gordon Road terrace was rebuilt as a single tier covered terrace complete with a commentary box and control room. Also constructed during this phase was new toilet and turnstile facilities to serve both the Gordon Road terrace and away supporters terrace. The away supporters terrace was a temporary stand constructed by Arena Seating.
Phase 2 involved the demolition of the Rainham End and Redfern Avenue terraces. These where both rebuilt as covered terraces.
The Rainham Terrace is a single tier terrace and incorporates supporter facilities beneath the terracing.
The Redfern Avenue terrace was rebuilt as a double tier terrace with hospitality boxes incorporated into the design. At one end of the terrace are facilities for players, officials and press. At the opposite end of the terrace is the Priestfield function rooms and the Factory bar and restaurant. Located beneath the terracing are club facilities including reception and ticket offices.
